Moreton Bay Planning Scheme Updates

Planning Scheme Tailored Amendment No. 1 commenced for the Moreton Bay Regional Council on January 29, 2020. A summary of the changes can be viewed online.

Some of the changes that may affect your projects are –

  • changing set back requirements for sheds in the Rural residential zone;
  • changing the levels of assessment for service stations and increasing design criteria;
  • changing mapping to recognise some existing neighbourhood hubs;
  • introducing a requirement for secondary dwellings to provide at least one car park.

The amendment did not include changes to emerging community areas and investigation areas (such as Warner). 

These areas will be considered as part of wider regional planning for the Moreton Bay area through the Regional Growth Management Strategy 2041

Council have recognised other key issues raised by submitters throughout the consultation period of this amendment and confirm that further improvements are needed for secondary dwellings and the Next generation neighbourhood precinct (medium density areas).
